Lyon is breaking records after records when it comes to winning the French football league. Once again, they were crowned the champions, interestingly for a record sixth time in a row when second place Toulouse lost to Rennes 3-2. Such is the dominance of Lyon in French league that despite five matches still left in the season, they have already wrapped the title and that too without being stretched to limit.

In general, Lyon comfortable victory pinpoints two things: either they are just too good or the standard of French league is not up to the mark. For me, second one holds true because the performance of Lyon in UEFA Champions League is not that flashy. As a matter of fact, they failed to reach even the knock out round this season. Earlier, in a tight match Liverpool striker Bruno Cheyrou scored the Rennes winner with just three minutes left in the match, ending Toulouse’s dream of winning the league.
